I would never make an effort to go to Outback. I've been a few times maybe 10 years ago or so. I always found it over-priced and tended to like Texas Roadhouse better. Well, when Ruth's Chris isn't nearby, anyway. The outstanding achievement award on each of those trips always went towards the Bloomin' Onion, but by the time the bill came, I was over the whole experience. Anyway. Now my life has changed and my choice in restaurants is limited by places with a gluten-free menu or at least in being able to order food off the menu without having a massive amount of modifications. I'm just DONE eating food that doesn't taste like what I'm used to. So I keep hearing how Outback is the place to go. I know at some steakhouses you have to order your steak without the seasonings or butter. Same with the baked potatoes. At Outback, you can simply order the steak the way it comes. Yay! Gosh darn it, I just want to feel NORMAL when I order. I see this location doesn't have the best reviews, and so we go with low expectations. The restaurant is a lot brighter than I remember an Outback being. I remember it being dim and cozier. At the hostess stand I ask for the gluten-free menu. Our server comes to take our drink order and asks if we still want bread at the table. It's nice that she was observant. I was a little sad that there wasn't an appetizer I could eat. But that's alright. I let our server know I had celiac disease and could not tolerate even a grain of gluten. She assured me there would be no cross-contamination. I ordered the Outback Special with a side salad, no croutons and a dressed baked potato. The salad came out with bread crumbs on top- as if there had been croutons on it that were taken off. I waved her back over and explained what I suspected happened. She apologized and said she would make the salad herself. I took off a star for that. While she was gone, the manager came by to bring our food and told me my food had all been kept safe. I explained about the salad and he also apologized and left to check on my new salad. It was brought back out and it was perfect. My steak was ridiculously delicious. Like, REALLY good. I was stunned. The flavor was perfect. It was cooked exactly how I ordered it- I am so sick of over-cooked steaks! Was it perfect because we got there at 430 before the place got busy??? The baked potato was alright. I wish it was wetter. More butter. The sour cream was a little clumpy- like when it's placed on the potato while the potato is too hot. I would have liked the toppings on the side. For dessert they actually have a Chocolate Thunder from Down Under brownie dessert. I thought maybe this was a mistake and shouldn't be on the menu- but it is in fact GF! Now, I was too stuffed to order one, but I am just jazzed that I can be normal and order a dessert like this if I wanted too. Yay!! Our check came and I was pleasantly surprised! It was only about $25. That's two entrees and a drink. And they have a military discount. Very nice! It's been four hours since I've eaten here and I haven't gotten sick from it. That, my friends, is success!

Saturday night, March 31, 2012 -- I haven't lived in the area since 1983 so I had no idea where to suggest we eat. My friend who lives in Shreveport LA requested Outback specifically because she was in the mood for a steak. I had a great meal at the Outback in Little Rock AR many years ago so I was game. She made a reservation for 7:00p but when we got there, we were told we had a 15-minute wait. After 30 minutes in the bar, we were finally called to a table. I asked why bother to make a reservation if we had to wait anyway. The hostess merely shrugged. The waitress was slow taking our drink order and someone else delivered them to the table. Our appetizer arrived much later; even slower arrived our bread. I had the filet medallions with an added lobster tail as did one of my companions. The other had a New York strip. Our meals were cooked to order and delicious. I asked my friends whether I was just spoiled by the restaurants in San Antonio and expected too much. One of them commented she'd always heard never to eat out in Shreveport (or Bossier City) on weekends because the service was lousy. Now she tells me! I can get a good steak almost anywhere. Never going back to Bossier City's Outback. In fact, I may never visit Outback again.

We are from California and love outback! We were so happy when we saw that there was one of our favorite chains here. But our experience was awful! First, our pager didn't work so we waited an hour when we didn't have to. I ordered my favorite Alice springs chicken....it was so over cooked that it was not edible. The manager did replace it, but the second one was not much better...the flavor just wasn't there. My boyfriend ordered steak and lobster. The lobster was so tiny it was more like a crawfish. When we asked about it we were given some story about how the lobster must be more expensive here than in California so they can serve bigger ones. Lobster was also overlooked and steak didn't have much flavor. Sad....we won't be back. People like chains because they expect them to be consistent....not our experience here.

Pretty much your typical Outback. The one thing that springs to mind is consistency, which this place seemingly lacks. Well, unless of course you consider they are pretty consistent about not bringing you silverware when they seat you and you having to chase some down. Service is hit or miss, sometimes great, sometimes a lot left to be desired. Often times its due to our waiter/waitress having too many tables seemingly and scatterbrained. Food is all over the place. We usually order the same things, cheese fries for appetizer, wife gets the 6oz sirloin with two sides and I the toowomba pasta. Without a doubt the portions seem to be shrinking. Fries especially, smaller and smaller, yet prices keep going up. Sometimes they have ample cheese/bacon, sometimes not, sometimes over-friend, others under. Medium rare steak can be anywhere from very rare-medium rare.... yep. Pasta I can get 1 shrimp or 5.. Most times it's all still tasty but again, inconsistent. Outback is that place you keep going back to because you have done it for so long, eventually it will sink in that it's just not worth it anymore.

Service was non existing. Waited 20+min for a server to pass and ask for drinks. (Got drinks wrong) food had no flavor!! Only good thing was the castaway cocktail. First time here and last time here. This place is horrible and waste of money. You would do better buying food from the store and cooking it yourself. Btw......we sat for 2 hours in total waiting time.

I've eaten at this Outback a few years back and it was pretty good. But I just had dinner here tonight and it was horrible, I probably won't go back. Our server was rude and just dropped food off at the table and would then move on too quickly to ask for anything else. I had two utensils that felt sticky and I kept asking for new ones and our server seemed irritated I kept asking for a clean fork and knife. Portions were extremely small and prices were high for what you get. I would not recommend this Outback.

I went here a few months ago for carry-out and had an overall good experience, so I tried again recently. The food was not ready on time, and then I ended up having to go back in after receiving someone else's order. The gal handling curbside orders was clearly in over her head, and so I had to wait a second time while the order was prepared. Since I placed the order online (which is very easy), there were specific written orders and clearly no one was paying attention to this. The food was a mix of good and bad. Salmon with vegetables was excellent, while the soup was some of the worst I have ever experienced. It was supposed to be tortilla soup; what I received was a congealed blob of something resembling gravy. It was clearly drawn from a refrigerated container and not even reheated. Ordered a dinner salad with chicken which was nothing more than the standard side salad with a ball of aluminum foil that contained some grilled chicken that looked like it had been torn apart. The chicken had a rancid taste from being cooked on a dirty grill. One of the most annoying aspects of this place for me is that the help appears to be "swamped" even when the restaurant is not that busy. I wonder what it would be like during a real "rush"?

Our waiter was completely incompetent. We had to ask for the pumpernickel bread and it came with out the "bread board" or any butter. The waiter completely messed up my order. When it arrived we had no silverware and waited close to 10 minutes to get it. When he brought the silverware we had no napkins. 15 minutes into a sub par meal he returned to ask if all was well and I again asked for napkins. After I informed him that my order was wrong he apologized and then the useless manager tried to give me my correct order but by that time I'd lost my appetite. When the check came my messed up order was still on it and I had to make him take it off. Basically the only thing that was good was my wine. But then all they had to do there was pour it out of a bottle. I won't be going back to that particular outback.

Awful. Over seasoned food and was very dry. Very disappointed. Staff couldn't even handle a small party of 7. They were sweet but not trained. Management should be on top of this. However, they're to busy texting.

Went to this Outback Friday evening. The food was delicious. I was disappointed that we were unAble to get bread. The steak was cooked perfectly which is unusual in shreveport. The margaritas were good but they have changed their glass ware to reduce the volume of margarita and did not reduce the price.

Nice experience at this Outback. Our service was excellent and the food was good. This Outback has been updated to the new look inside, its very nice. We had prime rib, ribeye steaks, ahi tuna , bloomin onion, and blue bell ice cream. All were good and up to Outback standards. It was a great time !

This was my 2nd time here - traveling for business. I had a good time and met some cool fun people at the bar a couple of years ago when I was here on business (yes.. at olutback of all places.) So, I decided to return again. I was very disappointed with the food. Outback is usually consistent. I waited 30 min for a steak was WELL done when I asked for medium. Then it took another 25 min to get another. It tasted great the 2nd time but by then I had lost my appetite. The manager explained that they got busy so he jumped in the kitchen. They gave me the meal for free. Well, after waiting an hour for a decent meal.. I would hope so. The least they could have done was throw in the 2 glasses of wine I had while I waited. The crowd at the bar - most seemed to be having a good time. Good mixed crowd ages 20's to 60's. I was writing a good review until they screwed up the food by the way. This particular Outback has a good vibe with friendly good people just hanging out and have a good time... in the bar area anyway. I really wouldn't expect this from an Outback. I'm sitting here writing this review as a 60+ yr old man and his wife are chatting and having a good time with these two 20 something yr old guys- it's clear they just. The group at the bar keeps growing.. its kinda cool. Everyone is just chilling and having a good time- more drinking than eating here. The waiter was very nice and apologetic. I have to say.. overall the staff isn't bad looking. Outback is 5 min from the casinos. Speaking of which... why am I still sitting here?!?

I went to the Bossier City location with my family, while visiting my brother and sister-in-law. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like VIPs. The lobby had cold lemon water available while we waited to be seated, and within moments of being seated, our drinks were served quickly, by our very friendly waiter Josh. Once we had ordered, he offered to bring out my three-year-old's meal first, and he delivered it after only 5 minutes or so. Our drinks were never low and everyone's food was cooked to order, which is near impossible when you serve a table of 7 tired travelers. My grandmother requested a baked potato with only butter, and was originally served a loaded one, but it was quickly corrected. In addition to the basic expected experience, a manager noticed that my daughter was becoming restless as we finished our meal, and came by with a milkshake. We had to turn it down because she is lactose intolerant, so she brought a strawberry slush back instead! Talk about amazing service! I will definitely plan to eat here when we are in town again in a few months.

Takeout is the way to go here!!!! As my wife and I attempt to tighten the purse strings of the family budget, we are finding takeout is a good way to go. We love Outback, because we get a great meal with bread included and they have fantastic car-side service, that is, they meet you at your car and accept payment and bring you your food! It is awesome and we love it!

Steak is one of my favorite things! I go here because they make the best Bloomin Onion! The steak is good although some days are better than others. I love getting my food to go with their curbside take away. It's super convenient because I don't even have to get out of my car. I will say some meals are much better than others but none are bad.
